To better explain China's innovative engineering, CGTN, together with China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC), launched a series of events themed "Age of Intelligence: Crafting the Future" in Beijing on Friday.

Fan Yun, deputy editor-in-chief of China Media Group and editor-in-chief of CGTN, Zheng Xuexuan, chairman of CSCEC, and Xu Yanhao, chairman of the Chinese Society for Science and Technology Journalism, attended the event.

During his address to the event, Fan said the construction of a strong and modern socialist country relies not only on the "hard power" of central enterprises in the economic field but also on the support of "soft power" through international communication.

For Fan, telling the story of Chinese engineering benefiting the world not only helps Chinese enterprises create better overseas business environments but also enhances comprehensive competitiveness and contributes to China's global image.

CSCEC and CGTN have jointly launched a series of high-quality work showcasing the changes brought by "Made in China" to work and life overseas. Zheng said it shows a new international perspective, presenting innovative Chinese solutions to global issues.

In addition, Xu believes that CGTN has made forward-looking arrangements for the international communication of technology-related reports. The work is based on major national science and technology strategies, Xu said, confirming the capability of CGTN with its global perspective and world-class production standards.

During the event, "Architecture Intelligence" – a documentary series jointly produced by CGTN and CSCEC – was introduced to illustrate the efforts China has made towards the green and sustainable development of countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.

From Dubai's traffic to Cambodia's new national symbol and the rapid construction of a Malaysian skyscraper, the documentary series shows the "hard-core technology" developed by China in the construction of key projects both at home and abroad, digs into the cultural connotation and social value behind the buildings, and discusses how we can meet the challenges faced by global cities through scientific and technological innovation.

A book titled "Building Lives" was also launched during the event. Debuting in July 2022, multimedia reports focusing on changes that Chinese engineering has brought to economic development and people's lives in 15 countries along the Belt and Road have been compiled into this exciting book.

It has been broadcast on multiple domestic and international platforms on CGTN. It has reached an audience of 360 million people, and total overseas views have hit 86 million. It won several awards in the fourth Belt and Road Initiative short video competition and was selected as one of the "Top Ten Outstanding Cases of the Year" of the 2022 China Goes Global Conference.

Based on the successful cases and examples in this aspect, CGTN also launched the "Global Innovation Hub" with the aim of exploring and presenting examples of innovation, including about technology, domestic and foreign resources, and young talent from around the world.

Looking ahead, CGTN will collaborate with governments, enterprises, and colleges and universities to provide a platform for showcasing, exchanging and collaborating with top international talent worldwide, so as to leverage the broadcaster's international and multi-platform communication advantage and promote excellent content globally.
