China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) are jointly maintaining the peace and stability of the South China Sea, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Saturday.
China and ASEAN countries are continuing to promote consultations on the Code of Conduct in the South China Sea, actively carrying out practical maritime cooperation, and jointly maintaining peace and stability in the South China Sea, said Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.
"The countries of this region have the full confidence, wisdom and capabilities to address the South China Sea issue," Wang said on the sidelines of a series of meetings of foreign ministers of southeastern and eastern Asian countries in Vientiane, Laos.
