One of China's greatest writers was Du Fu, a poet-historian who lived some 1,300 years ago. You can find his beautifully restored thatched cottage in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, where he wrote more than 200 poems, along with engravings of his calligraphy and poetic works in the surrounding gardens.
