Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Sunday that Russia condemns all terrorist attacks as he commented on a rocket strike in the occupied Golan Heights that killed 12 people.
Israel has blamed Hezbollah for the attack and vowed retaliation, while the latter has denied any responsibility.
Quoted by Russian state media, Lavrov said there are no prospects for ending the escalation in the Middle East at present. He added that completely destroying Hamas, as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says he wants to do, is an unrealistic aim.
Tensions along the Lebanon-Israel border have escalated since October 8, 2023, following a barrage of rockets launched by Hezbollah toward Israel in solidarity with Hamas' attack on Israel the previous day. Israel has retaliated with heavy artillery fire into southeastern Lebanon.
