Bangladesh will restore the country's mobile internet on Sunday, the telecommunications minister has said, more than a week after a nationwide blackout was imposed to contain deadly unrest.
Zunaid Ahmed Palak told reporters the network would be restored at 3:00 p.m. (0900 GMT), following the restoration of fixed line broadband connections on Tuesday.
Earlier this month, deadly clashes broke out across Bangladesh over the allocation of government jobs. Internet and text message services in the country have been suspended since July 18.
Dismissing a lower court order, Bangladesh's Supreme Court scrapped most quotas on government jobs last Sunday after nationwide action led by students spiraled into clashes that killed over 100 people.
