A massive landslide occurred in the Wayanad district of Kerala, India in the early hours of July 30. As of 1 p.m., the disaster had claimed 56 lives and over 70 people had suffered injuries. Rescue workers have indicated that the death toll may rise further.
The local meteorological department predicts continued heavy rainfall in the area, posing significant challenges to the ongoing rescue efforts.
