Quan Hongchan and Chen Yuxi of China won the women's synchronized 10-meter platform diving final at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris on Wednesday, adding the seventh gold for their team.
The Chinese pair scored a total of 359.1 points in five dives, after each of which their lead grew continued to grow steadily. They began with a 7.2-point advantage (56.4-49.2) in the first around and were the only pair to surpass 100 points (111) after the second attempt.
Quan and Chen were sitting on a lead of nearly 40 points (276.54-238.14) after four rounds. Their dominance continued in the final dive which was rated 82.56 points, sealing the final victory.
Jo Jin Mi and Kim Mi Rae of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea secured the silver medal with 315.9 points. The bronze medal was taken home by Lois Toulson and Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix of Britain with 304.38 points.
Chen paired with Zhang Jiaqi to win the event at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. Quan participated in the women's 10-meter platform competition at that edition of the Games together with Chen and beat Chen in the final to win the gold medal. Chen came in second in that contest.
