A mourning ceremony and funeral procession were held in Tehran on August 1 for top Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, who was assassinated in Iran on July 31. Residents held up portraits of Haniyeh to express their condolences and their support for the Palestinian people, and called on the Iranian government to take severe action in response to the killing.
Israel has not commented directly on the assassination, but Iran has accused it of responsibility.
