Road, electricity, and telecom services in most villages have been restored in Zixing City, central China's Hunan Province, after being hit by heavy rains induced by Typhoon Gaemi.

Electricity and communications have been resumed in 183 administrative villages, authorities said in a press conference. The relief efforts are still underway to restore roads to enter 19 villages, power supply in 24 villages, and telecommunications in 31 villages, according to the official release.

A total of 300 metric tonnes of relief supplies have been delivered to Zixing, with 695 people evacuated and 515 receiving medical treatment, said the authorities on Friday.

In Xiangtan County, another place in Hunan heavily hit by the floods, cleaning and repair work is underway after three dike breaches took place earlier this week along sections of the Juanshui River.

Water levels have largely decreased, with flood water receding and flowing back to the river in Huazhong Village, Hekou township of Xiangtan, which was severely flooded due to the dike breach. Villagers are now returning to their homes as the disinfection work is done.

On Thursday, China's National Disaster Reduction Commission raised the emergency response to Level II, which is the second-highest in the four-tier warning system, in Hunan Province following Typhoon Gaemi's impact.
