On July 31, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced in a statement that Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political bureau of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), and his bodyguard were killed in the Iranian capital of Tehran. The cause of the incident is under investigation, and the results of the investigation will be released later, the statement said. CGTN asked Palestinians about their views on the assassination. Resident Hamada Al-Harz said he felt sad about Haniyeh's death as the slain leader opposed the war and worked for a ceasefire in Gaza.
