At least 10 people were killed and three others went missing after heavy rains triggered flash floods in south Afghanistan's Zabul province on Sunday night, a local official said Monday.
The floods swept through most parts of the province's Shinkay District and the provincial capital of Qalat city. According to an initial report, a woman and three children were among the deceased, and one person was injured, said Zabihullah Jawhar, a spokesperson for the provincial police.
Jawhar said the floods also caused heavy losses of property to residents, washing away their crops, houses, and livestock.
