Li Hui, special representative of the Chinese government on Eurasian affairs, visited Indonesia on Tuesday and exchanged views on the Ukraine crisis with Umar Hadi, director general for American and European affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia.
Noting that the current conflict between Russia and Ukraine still has escalation and spillover risks, Li said the priority is for all parties to work together to cool down the situation.
Li said the six common understandings issued by China and Brazil on a political settlement of the crisis have received positive responses from the international community.
China is ready to work with Indonesia to carry forward the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and the Bandung Spirit and accumulate conditions for the early resumption of direct talks and negotiations between relevant parties, he said.
Hadi said Indonesia speaks highly of China's leading role in promoting a political settlement of the crisis and appreciates the positive role of the six common understandings.
Indonesia is willing to work together with China and relevant parties to find a solution to the crisis, Hadi said.
