Chinese shooters finish 2024 Paris Games with record performance

Chinese shooters finished their competitions at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris on Monday when Li Yuehong, Wang Xinjie, Jiang Yiting and Lyu Jianlin added one gold and two bronze medals for the team.

Li won the 25-meter rapid fire pistol men's final by shooting 32 points over 26 by Cho Yeong-jae of South Korea and 23 of Li's teammate Wang. Jiang and Wang earned the bronze medal in the skeet mixed team event.

China have secured five golds, two silvers and three bronzes in the shooting events in total, setting their best performance at the Summer Olympics.

Reigning champion Zou Jingyuan added the artistic gymnastics men's parallel bars title for China with superb 16.200 points after outperforming Illia Kovtun of Ukraine (15.500) and Shinnosuke Oka of Japan (15.300) in the final of the event. Zou's teammate Zhang Boheng came in fourth.

Having participated in the men's horizontal bar final later on Monday, Zhang tied Tang Chia-hung of Chinese Taipei at 13.966 points to secure the bronze medal. Oka claimed the gold with 14.533 and the silver went to Angel Barajas of Colombia who got 14.533 as well. Oka beat him with higher execution points (8.633-7.933).

Zhou Yaqin pocketed the women's balance beam silver medal for China with 14.100 points. Two Italian athletes, Alice D'Amato (14.366) and Manila Esposito (14.000) had the gold and bronze respectively.

Feng Bin earned the women's discus throw silver medal for China after reaching 67.51 meters in the final. Valarie Allman of USA won the gold with 69.5 points. The bronze medalist Sandra Elkasevic threw 67.51 meters as well, but her second-best record was 64.25, beaten by 67.25 of Feng.

He Bingjiao added one silver medal for China after losing to An Se-young of South Korea in the women's singles badminton final. 13-21, 16-21. The Chinese badminton team finished 2024 Paris Games with two golds and three silvers.
