Chinese delegation vice chief praises athletes' performances in Paris

The Chinese delegation for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games on Tuesday held a news press conference to summarize the performances of the country's athletes in Paris.

China won 21 gold, 18 silver, 14 bronze medals in 12 events including shooting, diving, table tennis, badminton on the first 10 days of the 2024 Olympic Games. Delegation vice chief Zhou Jinqiang called it a relatively ideal result.

"We won two gold and one silver medals in shooting, diving and swimming events on the first day of the Paris Games, making a good start," Zhou said. "On the second and third days, we met some difficulties in swimming and gymnastics, we took targeted measures and made timely adjustments to help athletes relieve their pressure and boost their morale."

Zhou also praised the performance of swimmer Pan Zhanle who broke the men's 100-meter freestyle world record with 46.4 seconds to win the gold medal.
