Indoor rock climbing is gaining significant momentum in China. A joint report by the Chinese Mountaineering Association and other data platforms reveals a remarkable 31 percent surge in indoor climbing gyms across the country in less than two years. The number of facilities increased from 485 in early 2022 to 636 by the end of 2023, surpassing the United States' 622 gyms for the first time. CGTN's Chen Lanyou visits a climbing gym in Beijing to explore the appeal of this rapidly growing sport.
