The Chinese Embassy in the Philippines expresses deep condolences and high respect to the Philippine National Police (PNP) officer who died unfortunately in a shootout during a raid of a house to rescue two kidnapped Chinese citizens. It also expresses sincere sympathy to his family and to the wounded police officer, and heartfelt gratitude to the PNP for their successful rescue of two Chinese citizens.

The two Chinese citizens were kidnapped in Makati City of the Philippines on August 2. The Chinese Embassy in the Philippines quickly contacted Philippine law enforcement to carry out rescue operations.

On August 3, when law enforcers broke into the hideout of the kidnap-for-ransom suspects who were keeping the victims in Angeles City, one PNP officer was killed and another wounded in the shootout during the raid. A pistol, a revolver handgun, several jungle knives and drug paraphernalia were recovered from the house. The two Chinese citizens are in good condition after being rescued.
