Editor's Note: He is a founding father of Timor-Leste and a founder of the China-Timor-Leste friendship. In this edition of Leaders Talk, CMG's Wang Guan sat down with José Ramos-Horta, president of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, during his state visit to China from July 28-31. It was his first visit since he took office in 2022 and the first state visit to China by a Timor-Leste president since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 2002. Ramos-Horta said he highly appreciates the great vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind put forward by Chinese President Xi Jinping. He is looking forward to deepening cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, remarking that he does not consider China as a threat. "Quite the contrary," he insisted.
