Russia's air defense forces have shot down seven missiles over the Kursk region, said the acting governor Alexei Smirnov early on Thursday.
A state of emergency is in effect in Russia's Kursk region, Smirnov said on Wednesday, amid an apparent Ukrainian ground offensive against the border province.
Ukraine has not responded to such claims.
