Three cities in China – namely Beijing, Nanjing and Shenzhen – will show seven classic Russian movies during an ongoing Russian film screening event that kicked off in Beijing on Monday.

"Where The Siberian Cranes Dance," "Lord of The Wind," "Guest from the Future" and "My Sweet Monster," are among the film selection which features a diverse range of genres and subject matters, fully demonstrating the fruitful achievements of the Russian film industry in recent years.

The screening, set to run until August 11, aims to promote cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and Russia as an event marking the 75th anniversary of China-Russia diplomatic ties this year.

To promote the films to Chinese audiences, Russian filmmakers who were involved in producing these titles and bringing them to China are scheduled to make in-person appearances in the three cities. This included an appearance by Mikhail Lukachevsky, director of "Where The Siberian Cranes Dance," on the opening day of the screening event in Beijing.
