A recent Reuters report reveals that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) violated global regulations by allowing several athletes caught violating drug rules between 2011 and 2014 to continue competing without prosecution in exchange for information on other violators, according to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). By exempting their own cheating athletes, the U.S. agency is not only secretly trading favors, but also intentionally breaking the rules. This blatant disregard for the rules threatens the integrity of sports competitions. 

Doping among American athletes has long been a notorious issue. An earlier CBC report highlighted that a significant number of American athletes have applied for therapeutic use exemptions (TUEs) to illegally use prohibited substances. While TUEs are meant to allow athletes needing medical treatment to continue competing, they are increasingly being misused as performance-enhancing "elixirs". This poses a severe threat to fair competition. With such practices in place, how can we ensure fair play?
