West Africa includes countries such as Senegal, Mauritania, Gambia, Mali, Guinea, and Nigeria. This region serves as a transitional zone, both geographically and culturally, spanning approximately 6.38 million square kilometers, which accounts for one-fifth of Africa's total area. The climate in West Africa transitions from a tropical desert climate in the north to a tropical savanna climate in the central region, and finally to a tropical rainforest climate in the south. This distinct latitudinal climatic zonation gives West Africa a rich and diverse natural landscape. West Africa is renowned as one of the world's most culturally diverse regions, celebrated for its vibrant music, dance and art.
