August 12 marks World Elephant Day. To mark the special occasion and raise public awareness to conserve the giant creatures, a series of activities will be held in the Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture in southwest China's Yunnan Province. This region is the largest habitat for Asian elephants in China. One of the highlights includes a birthday party for elephants rescued from the wild.
