China's central authorities have sent a congratulatory message to the country's Olympic delegation for its accomplishments at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics.

In the message, the Communist Party of China Central Committee and State Council of the People's Republic of China call on athletes to remain focused on the goal of building China into a strong sporting nation, strive to reach new heights in competitive sports, and contribute to the realization of China's modernization and great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

China finished with 40 gold, 27 silver, and 24 bronze medals. And starting from the country's first title at the 1984 Los Angeles Games, won by Xu Haifeng in the men's free pistol, China passed the historic 300-gold medal mark in the French capital.

The deputy heads of China's Olympic delegation praised the team at a press conference after the athletes achieved the country's best-ever performance at an overseas edition of the Games.

Zhou Jinqiang, deputy head of China's Olympic Delegation, highlighted the importance of participating in more events.

"We made three breakthroughs in this year's Olympics. First, we competed in more events. China have competed in 232 events across 30 sports, which is the most in any Olympics we participated in overseas," Zhou said.

"Second, we won more gold medals. The haul of 40 gold medals surpassed the 39 golds won at the London Olympics and the 38 golds won at the Tokyo Games, and a total of 60 athletes claimed golds, marking a new record for overseas Olympic participation. Third, we topped the podium from a greater variety of events. Fourth, the gold medalists come from more provinces across the country."

Liu Guoyong, deputy head of China's Olympic delegation, placed emphasis on the swimming team's performance in the wake of recent allegations from the U.S. surrounding the fairness of doping tests.

"First, we accomplished the goal of 'winning clean gold medals.' Second, the Chinese swimming team are able to follow the international rules and actively cooperate with the high-frequency doping tests, and no positive case has been detected. Third, the Chinese government emphasizes the requirements of winning clean golds in a moral style, staying resolute on zero tolerance for the doping problem," Liu said.
