Two-time NBA champions and Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP) Kevin Durant has invested in Ligue 1's Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) to become a minority shareholder of the French powerhouse, according to The Athletic.

Durant's investment firm Boardroom bought his shares with a "single digit millions" through a separate financial vehicle created by Arctos Sports Partners which has invested in PSG.

Arctos purchased a 12.5-per cent stake of PSG in 2023, valuing the club at 4.25 billion euros (about $4.65 billion).

Durant won the men's basketball gold medal with USA at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris on August 10. He visited PSG's new training center at Poissy and met with the club's president Nasser Al-Khelaifi. According to The Athletic, Durant's manager and co-founder of Boardroom, Rich Kleiman, attended the meeting too when the two sides "presented" to each other regarding the purchase.

"It was an honor to welcome Kevin Durant to the Campus today and to witness his passion for Paris Saint-Germain and his recognition of the excellent sports facilities at our new PSG Campus training center," Al-Khelaifi said after Durant's visit. "Kevin is an inspirational athlete, investor and all-round role model, both on and off the pitch. We are extremely proud of his connection to the Paris Saint-Germain family as we share the same values and vision. We look forward to strengthening our ties and working together with Kevin and boardroom to bring the best in sport and entertainment to fans around the world."

Before Durant's investment, PSG has been cooperating with Michael Jordan's brand, Jordan, for more than five years.
