The Liyuan Hydropower Station on the upper reaches of the Yangtze River is remarkable not only as a feat of engineering, but also for its harmonious integration into the surrounding ecological environment. This was achieved by means of extensive field surveys and ecological research conducted by planner Duan Liming and his team during the construction process. As a result, the rare botanical garden they established has played a vital role in preserving the local ecosystem.
