Voters in Kiribati are heading to the polls on Wednesday to determine the political fate of the Pacific nation. Voters will cast ballots to elect members of parliament in the first of two rounds of the general election. The presidential contest will follow in roughly a month. The new parliament will nominate up to four presidential candidates. Incumbent President Taneti Maamau, who's been in office since 2016, is vying to secure a third and final term.
