Birds of prey call the Jiatang Grassland in Yushu of northwest China's Qinghai home. Their mighty appearances and ferocious gazes are ceaselessly intimidating. However, one of them is sufficiently offbeat to subvert your impression of these raptors. Its body typically measures a mere 20 centimeters. With round cheeks and big eyes, it looks adorable. Although minuscule and cute, the little owl must not be underestimated. It has a sharp, hooked beak, powerful talons and keen vision, the quintessential arsenal of any bird of prey.
