Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has become a popular travel destination for foreign tourists over recent years, as China continues to expand its visa-free policies for an increasing number of countries.
The latest data from the Xinjiang Culture and Tourism Department show that in the first half of 2024, Xinjiang received nearly 2.3 million inbound tourist visits, a year-on-year increase of over 120 percent, and generated about $1.77 billion in international tourism revenue, up a whopping 252.43 percent year on year.
