August 15 ushers in China's second National Ecology Day. This year's theme is "promoting the comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development." CGTN invited Sir John Key, former prime minister of New Zealand, to discuss China's changes and green development. Key said his understanding of China was relatively limited before his first visit, and his vision of Asia was probably Singapore. His first impression of China was of poorer cities and chaotic traffic. Over time, he saw a significant uptick in China's development, especially in infrastructure and urban modernization. He believes that China's overall development has exceeded his expectations and praises the Chinese government's efforts in promoting common prosperity across the country. On this trip to China, he went to Linfen, Shanxi Province, which has undergone tremendous changes. Twelve years ago, Linfen was one of the most polluted cities in the world. "Actually, I would move there. It was really nice, great economy, very green," said Key.
