China is making strides in sustainability with the rise of zero-carbon villages – countryside communities that have gone all-in on green living. In 2023, Jiuhua Village in Nanjing became the first to receive the "Zero-Carbon Village" certification, followed by Maona Village in Wuzhishan City in 2024. These pioneering villages demonstrate that it's possible to enjoy a high quality of life while preserving the planet.
