The 2024 World Youth Development Forum on Green Development, also known as the China-ASEAN Youth Development Forum, concluded successfully on Wednesday in Nanning City, southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
The forum, themed "Green Technological Innovation," aimed to mobilize global youth in advancing worldwide development efforts, promote youth development and unite diverse stakeholders to achieve the United Nations' 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. Launched in 2022, the event brought together approximately 150 participants from international organizations, domestic and foreign youth groups, green development officials, and youth project representatives.
Forum discussions explored the practical applications of green development by young people, the role of green technology in fostering sustainable development, and best practices in green public welfare.
Hu Sheng, head of the All-China Youth Federation, highlighted China's progress in building a harmonious relationship between humans and nature and shared examples of Chinese youth's contributions to green development.
Secretary-General of the Committee for ASEAN Youth Cooperation Mohd Zaidi Bin Aziz praised China's achievements in green development and its use of green technology innovation to empower young people. He emphasized that ASEAN faces significant challenges in green transformation and that green technology is crucial for achieving sustainable development and driving ASEAN's green transition.
