The General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and Vietnamese President To Lam has begun a state visit to China, starting from the southern city of Guangzhou. This is Lam's first overseas visit to China in both capacities. Song Qingrun from the School of Asian Studies at Beijing Foreign Studies University says that China and Vietnam share a strong friendship, with China being Vietnam's largest neighbor and its largest trading partner.
