Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian's nominee for foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, outlined key foreign policy priorities of the new administration on Sunday, emphasizing the importance of China and Russia.

Speaking before the Iranian parliament, Araghchi defended his vision for Iran's diplomatic future, as reported by the official news agency IRNA.

He highlighted that China, Russia and nations that have supported Iran through sanctions as well as emerging powers in Africa, Latin America and East Asia will be central to the administration's foreign policy. Araghchi said he is also committed to strengthening relations with neighboring countries and integrating Iran's infrastructure with theirs.

Regarding Europe, he suggested that improved relations would depend on Europe rectifying its "incorrect and hostile" stance towards Iran.

On relations with the U.S., Araghchi emphasized a strategy of managing hostility while working to alleviate sanctions.

He also vowed unwavering support for Palestinian causes and regional resistance movements, including Hezbollah, against what he described as Israel's "cruel and criminal" policies.

Araghchi, 61, who previously served as deputy foreign minister and chief nuclear negotiator, is poised to lead Iran's diplomatic efforts in Pezeshkian's administration.
