Tracing the revolutionary footprints of the late Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh in Guangzhou, Vietnam's President To Lam visited the former site of the headquarters of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Youth League, the predecessor of the country's Communist Party.
HUANG JIAYUAN Guide, Guangdong Museum of Revolutionary History "This is the site of the Vietnam Youth Political Training Class, the former site of the Vietnam Youth Revolutionary Comrades Association, led by Comrade Ho Chi Minh during the Great Revolution. In November 1924, Ho Chi Minh came to Guangzhou from Moscow. Here, he founded the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Comrades Association – Vietnam's first revolutionary organization based on Marxist-Leninist theory.

In June 1925, the newspaper that laid the foundation for Vietnam's Revolutionary Press, "Thanh Tanh", was born, to promote Marxist-Leninist ideas. Also in Guangzhou, Ho Chi Minh's first Marxist-Leninist work – "The Kach Menh, or Revolutionary Road" – was published earlier the same year.
Revolutionaries Zhou Enlai, Liu Shaoqi, Chen Yannian and other important Chinese Communist party leaders were invited to give lectures here.

In Guangzhou, President To Lam also laid flowers at the grave of Pham Hong Thai at Huang Hua Gang Memorial Park. In 1924, The Vietnamese activist attempted to assassinate the then French governor-general of Indochina, Martial Henri Merlin, during a visit to Guangzhou. The assassination attempt is said to have helped fuel the Vietnamese liberation movement.
