Messaging services Telegram and WhatsApp experienced large-scale outages in Russia on Wednesday, the country's official media regulator, Roskomnadzor, said.
"On August 21, from 2 p.m., the Public Communications Network Monitoring and Control Center recorded a large-scale disruption in the operation of messengers Telegram and WhatsApp," it said in a statement.
The Russian media also reported that people had encountered problems logging into Wikipedia and the iOS App Store.
State media TASS said the failure of a number of services in the country is connected with a DDOS attack on Russian telecom operators, citing the press service of Roskomnadzor.
