For the first time, the World Nomad Games will take place in Kazakhstan's capital Astana between September 8 and 13 this year. The competition is based on the folk games of historically nomadic peoples from Central Asia. Included on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List, the games aim to develop ethnic sports and promote nomadic cultures.
