In 1958, the movie "The Magic of the Kite" was released, telling the story of a French boy and his sister, who, thanks to the magical power of a mysterious Monkey King-shaped kite, are brought to China and make new friends there.
Decades later, the role of the kite has been played by a Space Variable Objects Monitor (SVOM) satellite, jointly developed by Chinese and French scientists and engineers. Launched in June this year, the SVOM has begun its in-orbit exploration.
“Flying a Kite to the Stars” documents this relay race that lasted for 18 years, with players from the space sectors in China and France.
