A mega gas field project in China's Bohai Sea has produced over 1 billion cubic meters of natural gas, announced the country's oil and gas giant China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC).
Having commenced production in November 2023, the Bozhong 19-6 Condensate Gas Field provides a stable and reliable supply of clean energy to the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the Bohai Rim region.
Located in the central Bohai Sea, the gas field's explored natural gas reserves exceed 200 billion cubic meters, and the reserves of condensate oil exceed 200 million cubic meters, according to CNOOC. So far, six offshore oil and gas platforms have been built.
Jiang An, general manager of a subsidiary of CNOOC's Tianjin branch, told China Media Group (CMG) that the project's peak daily production of natural gas reaches 2.4 million cubic meters, which has practical significance for the safe and efficient development of other gas fields in the region.
"The phase II development project of the gas field is being launched. These projects lay a solid foundation for development of large-scale oil and gas resources in the ultra-deep area of the Bohai Sea," said Zhang Chunsheng, deputy general manager of CNOOC Tianjin branch, in an interview with CMG.
