The Islamic State militant group has claimed responsibility for the Solingen knife attack that killed three people at a street festival. Local authorities say the suspect has been arrested and that police have evidence to convict him.
German media said the suspect is from Syria and went to Germany in 2022. Officials say two men, 56 and 67 years of age, and a 56-year-old woman were killed in the incident. Authorities said there were no known ties between the victims.
There was no immediate evidence showing the extremist group was behind the attack or had connections with the suspect.
