Drolma lives in Edamenba Village, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, southwest China's Sichuan Province. It used to be an officially recognized poverty-stricken village. But that's in the past. Now, roads have been built and a scenic area attracts travelers from near and far. Many of the young locals who worked in other cities and towns have now returned to make a living in their hometown. Drolma has also opened a grocery store, selling yak jerky, dairy products and wild edibles. Not only does she sell to locals and travelers, but she also ships her goods to other areas in China thanks to expansive express delivery networks. Drolma says that convenient transportation, the development of the scenic area and the villagers' efforts have helped her hometown achieve poverty alleviation and move toward modernization.
