The Paris Paralympics, running from August 28 to September 8, marks China's 11th participation in a Summer Paralympic Games. Over the past 10 Paralympics, China has secured more than 500 gold medals. Since the 2004 Athens Paralympics, the Chinese delegation has consistently topped the medal table, holding the first spot in both gold medals and total medals for five consecutive Games.

This year, the Chinese delegation includes 516 members, with 284 athletes (126 men and 158 women) competing in 302 events across 19 sports. The oldest athlete is 48-year-old table tennis player Xiong Guiyan, while the youngest is 15-year-old swimmer Zhu Hui. The athletes represent professions such as workers, farmers, students, civil servants and freelancers. Among them, 189 have participated in previous Paralympic Games, while 95 are making their debut.

China has also made significant strides in promoting sports and fitness activities for persons with disabilities. Through government initiatives, rehabilitation activities and grassroots sports services have been expanded, resulting in a substantial increase in participation. The participation rate in cultural and sports activities for persons with disabilities in China has grown from 6.8 percent in 2015 to 26.3 percent in 2022.
