"Elegant Art in Hand, Gentle Breeze from the East," a special exhibition of fans made for export during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), is currently being held in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Featuring over 80 exquisite folding fans, divided into six categories, the display highlights the remarkable craftsmanship of Chinese artisans. Made in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, and exported during the 18th and 19th centuries, the fans on display include examples in ivory, sandalwood, giant clamshell, and tortoiseshell, as well as lacquered and silver filigree folding fans. These intricate and elegant fans not only showcase the unique elements of Chinese cultural heritage but also stand as a testament to the cultural exchange between East and West. The exhibition is open to the public until November 16.
