19th Changchun Film Festival opens in northeast China's Changchun City

The 19th China Changchun Film Festival commenced with great enthusiasm on August 28 in Changchun City, northeast China's Jilin Province.

Scheduled to run until September 1, the festival comprises six main sections, including the opening and closing ceremonies. 

Fifteen films have entered the final competition for the Golden Deer, the award for best film, including "Pegasus 2," "Endless Journey," "Only the River Flows," "Viva La Vida," "Article 20," "A Place Called Silence."

The annual Golden Deer Awards recognizes achievements in 10 categories, including Best Film, Best Director and Best Actor.

The festival comprises outdoor and indoor public screenings, forums, summits and symphony concerts, highlighting Changchun's cultural significance as the birthplace of Chinese cinema.

Its goal is to inspire and nurture innovation and creativity in Chinese filmmaking, thereby contributing to the industry's growth. 

Known for its rich history and cultural heritage, Changchun established its first festival in 1992. Since 2021, the festival has changed from a biennial to annual event.
