President of Timor-Leste José Ramos-Horta has dedicated his life to serving his country, gaining independence from Indonesia in a process of over two decades, and then serving in various posts including minister of foreign affairs, prime minister and also president. He is a recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for his struggle to bring peace to Timor-Leste, and has even survived an assassination attempt.
