Hamas has agreed to a UN-proposed seven-day humanitarian truce in Gaza to carry out a vaccination drive against polio among the local population, the Arabic-language London-based Al-Araby Al-Jadeed news site reported on Thursday, citing Hamas spokesperson Jihad Taha.

Citing Egyptian sources, the outlet, whose English site is known as The New Arab, also reported that the humanitarian truce in Gaza is expected to begin within days, lasting from three to five days during daylight hours, and will not include areas where Israeli forces are present.

Hamas has not yet made any official announcements on the matter.
