The draw results of the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League were announced on Thursday. A new competition format, known as the "Swiss Model," was introduced to the tournament this season.

Instead of the usual “group stage,” the 36 qualified teams for the Champions League will compete in the "league stage" first. Each of them will play eight games against other teams of varying difficulty, collecting the traditional three points for a win and one point for a draw.

After the eight rounds of games are finished, the top-eight teams will advance to the Round of 16. The other eight berths will go to the winners of two-legged playoff rounds for the teams that rank between No. 9 and No. 24. The remainder of 20 teams will be out of European competitions completely.

The following are some of the most eye-catching faceoffs between heavyweights during the league stage:

The Premier League champions Manchester City will host the Serie A winners Inter Milan at the Etihad Stadium for a rematch of the 2023-24 Champions League final. City will also visit the Parc des Princes to play the Ligue 1 heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich will have PSG at the Allianz Arena as one of their two major opponents on the league stage too. The other will be Barcelona at Camp Nou.

Fifteen-time winner of the Champions League Real Madrid will play Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium and visit the Anfield to face Liverpool.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen, the undefeated Bundesliga champions from last season, will host Inter Milan at BayArena and challenge Liverpool and Atletico Madrid on the road.
