A delegation including 65 athletes and eight coaches of Chinese mainland who participated in the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris attended a press conference in south China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) on Thursday.
The 65 Olympians competed in 16 sports in Paris and 59 of them brought home gold medals and they are on a three-day visit in Hong Kong before leaving for Macao Special Administrative Region on Saturday.
"This is my first time to visit Hong Kong as a member of the Chinese mainland delegation," the men's singles table tennis champion Fan Zhendong told China Media Group (CMG). "I'm very happy about it. I want to, together with the delegation, have friendly and close communication and interaction with all circles of Hong Kong."
"I'm quite familiar with Hong Kong," said Zhang Yufei who earned one silver and five bronze swimming medals at the 2024 Paris Games. "When I came to compete, I often went to eat local cuisines like har gow (crystal shrimp dumplings) and cha siu bao."
"It's an honor for me to visit Hong Kong for the fourth time as a member of the Chinese mainland delegation," Chinese table tennis team captain Ma Long told reporters.
"If you have something you love, go for it and don't be afraid," said the women's 10-meter platform diving gold medalist Quan Hongchan at the press conference. "I want to thank everyone for liking me."
