A China-Africa media exchange event was held in Beijing on Saturday. Li Shulei, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended the event via video and delivered a keynote speech.

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, President of Central African Republic Faustin Archange Touadera and Seychelles President Wavel Ramkalawan also sent messages via video, expressing their desire to strengthen China-Africa media exchanges and deepen practical cooperation.

More than 200 representatives from international organizations, media, think tanks and other fields from China and more than 20 African countries attended the event.

Noting the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation will be held in Beijing, the participants believed that the summit will open a new horizon in the development of China-Africa relations and write a new chapter in the building of a China-Africa community with a shared future.

The participants also believed that the media is an important carrier for promoting exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations and plays a unique role in promoting people-to-people exchanges.

Chinese and African media should adhere to the concept of win-win cooperation, tell good stories of China-Africa cooperation and development, and tell good stories of countries exploring modernization paths tailored to their actual conditions and improving the well-being of their people, said the participants.

They also believed that both China and African media should strengthen exchanges and cooperation in cutting-edge technologies, continuously strengthen the popular support for China-Africa cooperation, and jointly build a fair, objective, positive and healthy global public opinion ecology.

Hosted by China Media Group, the event aims to deepen media exchanges and cooperation between China and Africa and promote exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations in the digital age.
