The only giant panda in Jiangxi turns 20
Meiling, the one and only giant panda in Jiangxi Province, celebrated his 20th birthday at a party at Nanchang Zoo on August 30, two days before his actual birthday on September 1. Fans from across the province gathered to celebrate, singing a birthday song for the beloved panda. A special birthday cake made from Meiling's favorite foods, including bamboo and fruit, was prepared for the occasion.
While giant pandas in the wild typically live between 15 and 20 years, those in captivity can live as long as 25 to 30 years. Although Meiling has entered his senior years, equivalent to a human age of 70 to 80 years, he remains energetic, lively, and adorable, thanks to the dedicated care from his keepers.
