China is willing to cultivate and carry forward the traditional friendship with Guinea and continue to firmly support each other on issues involving each other's core interests and major concerns, Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Monday.
Xi made the remarks while meeting with Guinean President Mamady Doumbouya, who is in Beijing for the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
Noting that Guinea is the first sub-Saharan African country to establish diplomatic relations with China, Xi said the two countries will celebrate the 65th anniversary of their bilateral ties next month.
China will strengthen cooperation with Guinea in areas such as infrastructure construction, resource development, rural construction, poverty alleviation, medical care and health, Xi said, adding that China will help Guinea translate its rich resources into a driving force for development.
Strengthening solidarity and cooperation with developing countries such as African countries is the cornerstone of China's diplomacy, he noted.
The Chinese president said China stands ready to work with Guinea to maintain close collaboration and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
Doumbouya said Guinea adheres to the one-China policy, adding that there is only one China in the world.
Thanking China for providing assistance for Guinea's economic and social development, he said the investment of Chinese enterprises in Guinea has promoted the economic development and improvement of people's livelihoods in Guinea, setting an example of mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.
Guinea believes that the upcoming summit will be a success and will promote cooperation in areas including infrastructure, energy, mining, transportation and tourism to achieve more results, he said.
